A Mixed Media Color Challenge

When I read about the new Mixed Media Color Challenge blog today I thought it would be such great way to inspire my creativity and newly discovered hobby art journaling to take part in their mixed media challenge. Every other week the designers Mona Fendleton and Sue Lelli will present a color combination to spark creativity, now the theme is: light, pink, silver and black. You can read more about on the Color Challenge Blog
Below are my two entries for this challenge
For this layout I started by adding light pink acrylic paint, I then used silver colored acrylic paint with a stencil, I stamped a butterfly with rubber stamp on a ledger paper then punched out a circle. After that I added some washi tape and a printed bird photo from my last weekend trip to the country side, I also added a stamped label and finally stamped the Fly away with Me text.

For the second layout I started by spraying the page with a pink paint spray on a doily stencil. I then stamped the butterfly with rubber stamp to a ledger paper and then punched out a circle from it. I glued down the circle, added some washi tape, taped down one of my printed buddha statue photos and added some more washi tape on top. Finally I stamped the the text Color my world,

Art Journaling with washi tape

I have been considering for a while what I could do with all these photos that I have been taking in the last few years.... I have been considering to make digital photo books among other things and have them printed somewhere. Recently I have started art journaling, I think it is such a great idea, I can combine my interest in trying out different mixed media and combine it with my printed photographs. Above are some samples from my art journal. I must admit that since I discovered washi tape, I have simply been crazy about it, I have bought most of my washi tape at Etsy. For the pages above I have used Pan Pastels which I highly recommend, they are so easy to use, I have also used stamps, stencil, diluted acrylic spray paint and some text cutouts from my Silhouette Portrait machine, which I recently bough on a trip to the US.
